I couldn't face blogging last week. To be honest, I was thoroughly sick to my stomach of blogs and crafty people (with a few exceptions) and just felt completely irritated by the commercialisation of the indy craft scene, and etsy, and blogs that exist to sell their handmade things on Etsy. I don't know about you, but sometimes I feel like I've been mugged after I've been on some sites...
For me blogging is about connecting with people, finding inspiration and beauty and recording a little of our days for memory-keepsakes. For that reason I have decided to have a blog-reading break. Until I can find things out there that don't try to sell me something I think I'm through with the crafty blog thing.
On top of that the midget and his brother came down with illness over the last few days and time spent nursing them better was more important than being here.
But I'm back.
I feel like that too... I'll mail you later.
xx

Now I know you can be talking about me as my etsy store has been empty for months!
I do get the whole blogging as an advert thing though. There are only a few blogs that manage the balance between sharing their lives and selling their wares just right.
Glad you are back.I think I am too.

I don't mind people who blog about shop updates, as that is fair enough, but some blogs are just a manufactured persona from beginning to end and I just feel like I'm being brainwashed into parting with my money all the time. I like blogs when I can 'get to know' the person, look at some inspiring things, find great links and feel like I've just had a bit of wind put back in my sails. Not mugged.

I just stick to the blogs that make me feel good no matter what is on them...if they don't, I hit delete! Hope you have a good week - don't leave us!

Good plan. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for escapism - even the imagery of perfection, it's just the hard sell I can't tolerate....

Welcome back babe x
Glad the lads are well again.
You're quite right you know.
Blogging is for meeting people who will, hopefully, if not enhance your life at least give you pause for thought or entertain you.
Just think!
Without Blogger you'd have never met me!!!

Im 100% with you on this one! And im beginning to find alot of blogs just so pretentious and wonder if i fall into the trap now and again of making my own blog sound that way too.
You know what they say, too much of a good thing can be bad for you! Thats what they say, right? erm, ok, i may have made that up or got muddled somewhere but you know what i mean.

It's okay, maybe we go through phases when we need to have a fill of reading blogs and there are other times when it's just not important.
Mwaah and Mwaah to the boys, with duas for their speedy recovery, xx
